Gwyn S Marathas is an award-winning Salem, MA artist whose work bridges painting, textiles, and storytelling. A graduate of UMass Dartmouth with a BFA in Textile Design/Fiber Art, she creates intuitive acrylic collage paintings and handwoven textiles inspired by folklore, botanical forms, and the beauty of the delightfully odd.
Working under her longtime creative practice, Wovenpaint, Gwyn layers color, texture, and found imagery into richly tactile compositions that shift between abstraction and representation. Her current series explore peculiar spooky florals and imagined greenhouse specimens, inviting viewers into a world where shadows bloom.
This world is embodied via "A Peculiar Greenhouse", her newly created sales venue that's presented by Wovenpaint.
Beyond the studio, she is dedicated to sharing her knowledge, educating others through workshops, artist residencies, and community-based creative experiences. Creativity = Joy!
"Looking back, Wovenpaint has never been just about weaving. It has always been about weaving together creativity, story, color, and human connection."
